Athlete of the Month
Rebecca has been a staple of the 6:15am class along side her husband John. Rebecca pushes herself every single time she steps foot in the gym with more weight on the bar that she thinks she is capable of. She thrives when coaches throw challenges her way and she is always eager to perfect her movements. For those reasons any many more is why Rebecca has been selected as Athlete of the Month.
If you could have a magical power, what would it be?
VO2 Max power button so I never hit the wall during a cardio intense workout.
Who is the person at CFW who most inspires you to push harder?
I have to say that my 6:15 class pushes me to be better by the way they work hard and don't stop and their encouragement everyday. Also all my coaches because they bring something to my specific table to help me get better at my movements and they all truly care. During super hard cardio workouts I have to say that Bryan actually gets in my face and pushes me to exceed my own expectations. He causes me to dig deeper than I ever thought I could.
What genre of music do you prefer during the WOD?
I love anything 80's
Which super hero do you most identify with?
The Super Hero I relate most to I guess would be the newest Spiderman because he is awkwardly funny and unsure of himself (that's me) but when he sets aside his fear and doubt he accomplishes great things.
If you could eliminate one movement from CrossFit, which one would it be?
I would eliminate Thrusters- Why? because they are just darn hard!
What is your biggest accomplishment since starting CrossFit?
Biggest accomplishment is actually stepping into the CFW box. John wanted me to do CrossFit years ago and I kept saying no because there was "No Way" I could do that. When we moved here last year and after trying a different gym and feeling empty I suggested to John about maybe giving CrossFit a try. I instantly fell in love and that was after a 5000K row workout! (Honey I should have listened to you sooner:) My biggest physical accomplishment- I got my FIRST EVER (attempt and successful) ROPE CLIMB all the way to the top!!!!! Oh Happy Day!!! When I was a freshman in High School I couldn't even run 100m on the track.
What is some advice you'd give to someone new to CrossFit?
You can do it! Don't let fear rule you just step inside the box and take it one day at a time, one workout at a time. And never compare yourself to others. You do you! We are all at different levels of our fitness journey but I believe we all have a common goal of wanting to work hard and feel better. We have the most amazing box full of amazing coaches that go above and beyond to encourage, inspire and help us all meet our individual goals. Everyone at the gym is so kind and encouraging to each other! I love CFW!!!!!
The cheetah because I want to be able to run fast and not grow weary and maybe catch my dinner in the process:)
