What is CrossFit Kids?

CrossFit Kids workouts consist of constantly varied, functional movements that deliver a fitness routine that is broad, inclusive, general, and scalable for any participant at any level. The program is designed to address the specific neurological, cognitive, and motor developmental needs of each age group.
CrossFit Kids is a core conditioning program that helps kids of all ages and athletic abilities to feel more confident, strong, and focused. The program utilizes the 10 domains of fitness to optimize physical competence, which can provide an overall sense of wellness to the individual.
Balance: the ability to control the placement of the body's center of gravity in relation to its support base
Agility: the ability to minimize transition time from one movement pattern to another
Coordination: the ability to combine several distinct movement patterns into a singular distinct movement
Accuracy: the ability to control movement in a given direction or at a given intensity
Cardiovascular/respiratory endurance: the body systems' ability to gather, process, and deliver oxygen
Stamina: the body's ability to process, deliver, store, and utilize energy
Strength: the ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply force
Flexibility: the ability to maximize range of motion at a given joint
Power: the ability of a muscular unit, or combination of muscular units, to apply maximum force in minimum time
Speed: the ability to minimize the time cycle of a repeated movement
CrossFit not only offers physical benefits but includes long-term emotional benefits. Important skills needed for life are an integral part of the program, including leadership, teamwork, listening skills, self-discipline, sportsmanship, and respect. CrossFit Kids athletes experience increased self-esteem and confidence, and for many, less self-consciousness about themselves and their bodies. Focus and concentration can also improve, making school easier and contributing to a more positive life experience.
